The Kansas City Professional Development Council (KCPDC) has developed a program to provide faculty with the tools and resources for becoming more effective in the classroom. Full-time and adjunct faculty who choose to complete the six core classes and an additional two elective offerings will receive a certificate for the successful completion of 24 hours of study.
A dessert or breakfast will be served along with a beverage with each class.

This course provides an introduction to multicultural education aims and methods as well as a look at the relevance of local history. Participants will be exposed to concrete methods of studying race, class, and gender inequalities. They will probe these issues as co-investigators and share their own best practices

Description: This workshop provides training that is both didactic and participative. Small working groups are used to consider several scenarios provided by the trainer, and discussion within the buzz groups occurs. These buzz groups are then reorganized and comments and questions are fielded.

Description: This course is designed to familiarize instructors with writing across the curriculum theories and techniques that can be used immediately in any course. Using WAC strategies enables students to learn and cement new concepts more deeply. After taking this workshop, instructors will be able to develop writing assignments that will help them know if the students have mastered the process of learning as well as course content.
